Ways to make OPTICS RE dashboard more useful to household user
Some feedback as to how to make the interface more useful for the household user (as opposed to the installer).
Make charging detail available: what is current state of charging - bulk/absorb/float
Show elapsed time period for absorb/float modes
Access to same plots as available on Mate3 showing PV KWh, battery Voltage, loads KWh, SOC etc.
Since the current granularity is only 15 minutes, and these items only make sense with smaller granularity, It would perhaps make sense to set up these functions where the User can ping the Mate to get that info as needed rather than having it…

Iphone app and alerting
OpticsRE Iphone App would be awesome...so i can monitor when im away from home.
Also, Some form of mobile alerting via email or sms e.g. when battery gets low or a fault is detected.

Mobile phone or tablet version
Could you create a mobile css file to format OpticsRE to be friendly for iOS (and Android)? Alternatively an iOS app would be really nice. OpticsRE works great on a desktop browser but can be cumbersome on a phone or tablet.

Build a local app to monitor system when offline
Build a downloadable local client app so local outback systems can be monitored When the Internet is down or my Internet connection is poor. My off-grid rural system is very vital, and to have to be on the Internet to monitor it is a very weak link. I can monitor the Mate3s, but its Interface is not near as good as the OpticsRE GUI, and when my system is off the Internet, I lose data during that time, which means I cant power down the router at night or when I am not using the Internet to save precious power.

Alerts
Make the system capable of messaging us when there is an alarm condition, such as a charge controller goes off line, battery voltage too low, and so forth. Thanks

Home Dashboard does not show Solar Input from Other Charger
Include Power Input / Watts generated from a different charge controller... on the main screen where Power Flow from the Solar Panels "would" display.

System Off During Sunlight Hours Alert
We have been having some serious issues with ground faults and it would seem sensible for the monitoring system to be able to be programmed to send an alert if the system isn't working during the day. (If it's daylight hours 10 - 2 and inverter isn't on then probably something is wrong). A standard alert that system isn't functioning seems like should be most important aspect of monitoring.

MAC Address Change
Enhancement Request: In the unlikely event that a MATE3 should fail and need to be replaced, there should be a mechanism for editing the MAC address within OPTICS RE and keeping the old history associated with the new replacement MATE3.
I can see at least five possible ways to implement this:
1. By OPTICS staff allowing multiple MAC addresses to be supported, or by OPTICS staff changing the MAC address on record whenever a device is replaced in the field.
2. At the OPTICS end allowing the MAC address to be editable there, with some verification that it is not…14 votes -

Ability to enter custom battery characteristics
Ability to specify battery characteristics when 'other' battery type is selected in a system without a DC monitor. eg:
Voltage when chart 'orange' area begins
Voltage when chart 'red' area begins
Chart voltage range (max & min values on RH scale)12 votes -
Programmable MATE-3 Grid Use charger activation time (rather than automatically upon switching to Grid USE mode)
On the MATE-3 when using the Grid Use mode, if the batteries are not at 100% SOC when the grid transitions from DROP to USE during an Interval, the charger will automatically top off the batteries to 100% SOC. Sometimes there is still Sunlight available to top off the batteries after this transition takes place. Suggestion: set a programmable time that the charger will begin its top-off cycle after the Grid Use Interval goes into USE so that whatever Sunlight is available can contribute to the SOC and the charger will only charge well after dark. By doing this, there…

Line-graph view option instead of only bar-graphs
Provide an alternate charting option (hopefully with better precision than one hour increments) that allows a line-graph view instead of a bar-graph view for all charts.

More "Quick Look" Meters
Provide more "quick look" donut graphs so its more like a real "dashboard". Suggest including (1) solar production (which exists now), (2) battery SOC, (3) grid kW use, (4) load kW demand If you need room, remove the "Total Energy" (gallons of gas saved) area, and make that a pop-up item if anyone really cares.

Mate 3 lights set for lithium ion
Allow the user to set when the green, amber, and red lights on the mate 3 come on relative to % of charge so they will be meaningful to a lithium ion battery bank. Currently they seem to be set for lead acid and I currently can not find a way to change them

Failure Notification
glad to see you are aware of the Mate3 failing to connect. I bought another one because I thought mine was bad. Good to know you are working the issue. Thanks, let me know when cured. Are you going to provide failure notification via text message? Best

Integration for Home Assistant (hass.io)
Integration with Home Assistant https://www.home-assistant.io/
There are many requests for more I/O and sensors and IfThisThenThat directly in OpticsRE and Outback Power products. A better way to do this is to integrate Outback Power products and Optics RE to hook into Home Assistant or OpenHab automation products via an integration software module. These automation systems are perfect for the people who are asking for more I/O outside the scope of what Outback Power offers.

Have a way to post results to a personal webpage
This is closely aligned with the "widget" idea. I have used WattPlot for years to post production to my webpage (10 minute intervals), I don't see a way to do that with OpticsRe, although if someone has done this, I am interested.
