How about amending the HBX code to allow we HBX users to be able to charge our batteries from the grid during night time hours? This is much preferable to bring to fool the system by using the “sell” mode and pretending that the input is coming from a non-existent generator, as I read some people in the forums do.

A number of us see no reason why HBX could not have a safe period during night when a user could allow the GVFX3648 inverters in a split or single-phase setup to charge the battery bank with their built-in chargers. How about it?

Can my smart storage system which consists of 40kW PV with 8 GS8048A inverters, 12 cc FM80-150VDC and two battery banks of 24 Energy Cell OPzV 2000 batteries for a total of 48 batteries. I basically have a grid tied energy autonomous system running off HBX mode and at night I run off my batteries until I meet my Voltage or SOC parameter which for most nights I am good to go until sunrise without tapping into the grid.
I live in South Florida and My question here can there be a simple way to run off HBX as I currently, selling excess PV energy to the grid and replenishing my batteries fully by sun down. But in the event of a power outage, my power goes down and requires that I manually opt for the backup option in order to have full autonomy during a sudden grid power outage. Is there an HBX mode combination with a backup battery power setting in the event of a grid outage. Since you don't recommend using HBX with any of the Grid Use Intervals or Flextime features. How can I have a seamless transition to my 2 battery banks of 48 OPzV 2000 in the event of a grid outage with specific parameters allowing me to increase my DOD to the emergency levels since those important outages happen during a tropical storm or hurricane? I just went live a 2 months ago with my Outback inverters, cc's and batteries and 130 LG PV panels. I am a novice but I've managed to get this far and I want to be ready for hurricane season with potential 2-3 power outages. My system was designed to have 48 hours of battery autonomy without sun but If my grid power is out my gateway will be out so I need to have my backup battery come on in the system in a grid outage seamlessly. Seldom do people use solar panels in South Florida, let alone large battery banks like I have. I need to show my neighbors my investment was worthwhile and start taking names for those in need of AC after an extended outage due to a tropical storm ; )..,. Especially since finally the local utility has started taking Net Metering applications just a month ago. So the Sunshine State is gonna fast become a growth market for you guys, and I am a beacon for Outback in the southeast. I just need to figure this out and I will be all set and make Outback shine in the process!!!
