I think we can all agree that accurate data is important. So many times I log on and see my system is "consuming" when my PV array is generating 1.8 KW and I am consuming .02 Kw.
This ticket was opened some time ago. Our Mate3 firmware engineers have done a lot of work in the interim to improve power reporting. Once you’ve upgraded to a recent firmware version, we’d be interested in your feedback on data accuracy.
I agree with Dr. Ted, the data seems to be mislabeled. In our case on 2-14-2017 Optics summary graph reported (Solar 31.3 kWh; From Gen. 0 kWh; To Load 23 kWh;From Battery; 19.05kWh; To Battery 6.23 kWh) this is misleading and does not add up. I would think the correct terminology would be (Solar Produced 31.3 kWh; Gen. Output 0 kWh; Energy taken from Battery 23 kWh; Energy Back to Battery 31.3 kWh (+ Gen) Energy used for day Load 6.23 kWh: *System Loses 1.8kWh = 94% eff.) or something of this nature.
Sounds like an ambiguous or misleading terminology problem. I was thinking the same thing - consuming from the grid, but it means consuming from your own battery & solar. Buying means consuming from the grid. Perhaps we should suggest a more precise term with more connotations of self-reliance if such a word exists in English?
