What is a Profile, Site, or System?
Profiles, Sites, and Systems make up a hierarchy that allow you to control how much access users have to equipment through OPTICSRE.
The hierarchy looks like this:
Profile
-- Sites
----Systems
Profiles
A profile is the highest level container, which is managed by a Profile Administrator. Each profile can have any number of sites underneath it. When you invite other users to look at your OpticsRE profile, they can see all sites and systems contained within.
If you have multiple systems in a profile, a profile level dashboard is available which shows data combined from all systems in the profile.
Sites
A site is a physical location that can have any number of Systems underneath it. Each user who is part of a Profile will have a unique Site Access Level for each site in the profile. A Profile Administrator can manage the Site Access Level for each user in a site.
If you have multiple systems in a site, a site level dashboard is available which shows data combined from all systems at the site.
Systems
A system is a group of OutBack devices (Charge Controllers, Inverters, Flexnet DC, OutBack HUBs) connected to a gateway (A Mate3, AXS Port, or other device), which can communicate with the internet. All systems have a dashboard available which allows you to monitor and control your devices.
